John Howard is a highly experienced senior security consultant. Possessing outstanding organisational and training skills with immense operational experience across the Oil & Gas, Marine, and Construction Industries, experienced in Hostile, Multicultural, Multilingual Environments. A NEBOSH Certified Oil & Gas Operational Safety Manager. His key areas of security and safety commercial importance include Iraq, Afghanistan, Qatar, Jordan, Iran, Indonesia, Colombia, Turkey, Thailand, USA, Sierra Leone, and Nigeria.
Before progressing into the private sector John completed an exemplarily 20 years in the military, serving within the Royal Green Jackets and finally within the Tier-1 United Kingdom Special Forces (UKSF) SAS. Actively serving x4 tours on the counter-terrorist team and Gulf War 1
On leaving the SAS, John operated as a member of the armed Personal Protection Team to the family of a prominent Middle Eastern Ambassador to the USA based in Washington D.C. His duties were carried out throughout the USA, and International visits.
Moving on from this post. John embarked on a 3-Month emergency deployment to Sierra Leone. As the Security Advisor to a mineral mining company during the rebel uprising. The conclusion of this operation was the successful release of seventeen Ex-Patriot hostages achieved through dedicated liaison with the assigned SO.10 hostage negotiators from the British Special Branch.
On conclusion of operations in Sierra Leanne. John moved to Colombia as the security manager or one of the World’s biggest oil companies. Responsible for the countrywide security management of all its operations and assets.
Upon leaving Colombia. John was contracted to the Special Operations Command in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirate. Completing a two-year contract with the rank of Captain. He joined the units training wing as the senior instructor/team leader responsible for the development and conduct of training programs for a myriad of special operations subjects.
On completion of his duties at SOC. John became the Senior Project Manager for a group of 27 UAE companies, based at their headquarters in Abu Dhabi. The group’s activities involved the manufacturing of ammunition, supplying weapons, military & police equipment, and specialist training primarily to the UAE Special Operations Command, UAE Government, Armed Forces, Police, plus the local and regional Oil & Gas industry.
As a direct result of the 911 attacks in the USA, John departed the UAE, for Washington, DC. Employed as one of the lead instructors/program developers for the newly formed Department of State Anti-Terror Assistance Program. He was a lead instructor for the programmes Train the Trainer courses. Delivering instruction to potential DOS ATA Instructors drawn from a myriad US, SF & Law Enforcement Agencies.
On completion of these instructor training courses, he deployed as the programs Lead Instructor to Indonesia. Based in Jakarta, he and his team were responsible for the training of the Indonesian National & Regional Police Crisis Response Teams
Towards the end of the 2ndGulf War, as major combat operations were ending. The Department of State Anti-Terror Assistance Program was temporarily closed down, with all funding transferred to the US Department of Defence CTSO program, headquartered in Baghdad, Iraq. John was redeployed as the programs Director of Training. He managed the Selection and Training Programs for the Iraqi Emergency Response Unit (ERU) & SWAT. He became the Senior Mentor for the newly formed ERU Regiment, advising on Operational & Training plus managed the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Mosul. On completion of his contract in Iraq, John served as director of operations at the King Abdullah II Special Operations Training Center in Amman, Jordan.
On Completion at KASOTC, John took up various key management positions within the Oil & Gas and commercial security industry. He successfully passed the NEBOSH International Technical Certificate in Oil & Gas Operational Safety Management after which he completed projects as the senior safety manager to include the Trans Malaysian-Thai Gas Pipeline & Offshore Platform Construction Project and similar projects in Nigeria.
Due to his immense experience in the global security and safety management industry to include extensive instruction and training management expertise. John is ideally suited to join Chartsec Services Ltd. as a senior consultant.
