Sam Leeland

Manned Guarding & Residential Security Services

Sam has been working in and around the security industry for over 15 years having passed his SIA training at the age of 18 and working the doors of pubs, clubs and venues to help pay his way through university. He was promoted to head doorman after just 8 months in the industry.

Following the completion of a BSc degree in aquaculture and fisheries management, he moved into retail sales, for a period of 4 years, building a close relationship with customers and senior management. He was tasked with the planning, building and set up of a new store, then managing the stock levels, staffing and business development once the store was up and running.

Following this period in retail, Sam returned into front line security roles working as a relief guard on static guarding sites. His work ethics and leadership skills allowed him to gain, within 12 months on the site, promotion to site supervisor.  As supervisor, Sam was the point of contact between the client and the company company, responsible for managing staff rotas, on site investigations, loss prevention, and any other day to day tasks required. During this time, he was also tasked to manage and supervise at corporate and sporting events at venues across the country, as well as festival security.

Following Sam’s success within the roles he had been given, he was then tasked to assist with the running of the office for the company as the business grew, which meant taking a step back from the on-site work, to take on a multi-site portfolio of static guarding sites and organising security details for bespoke security events, as an operations manager.

During his time as an operations manager, Sam travelled across the UK, as well as to New York, Saudi Arabia, and Monaco to work as part of security details for high profile boxing events, football matches and festivals.

Following on from the period of Operations Manager, Sam set up as a freelance security consultant and offered his services to a few selected clients in which he had built up a rapport with over his career in the industry and subcontracted himself to businesses requiring assistance in fulfilling contracts.

He spent the summer of 2023 successfully directing the security detail for 2 medium sized festivals for a medium sized festival company, undertaking the planning of the security, execution of deployment of staff and debriefing with the festival directors and emergency liaison teams.

Sam also has a strong interest in noise control where he assists with his father’s company, in which he provides a noise control consultancy, as a technician. With this, Sam has worked at some of the UK’s largest festivals, such as Download Festival, Leeds Festival, Bloodstock Festival, to name a few, making adjustments with sound technicians and stage managers to allow licence conditions to be adhered to.

Sam joined Chartsec in 2023 to assist in the growth of the manned guarding and residential security services of the business and provides a civilian outlook into the security services which Chartsec provide to their clients.
