Steve is a British army veteran of 23 years’ service. During his time in the military, Steve gained extensive front line experience on military operations and training worldwide, from the heat of the desserts of the middle east and Afghanistan, to the jungles of Central America, Asia and Africa to the frozen wastelands of the arctic and Antarctica. Steve has also been trained in non-conventional, close reconnaissance operations and surveillance. As his experience became a valuable resource, and as a passionate, hands on trainer, Steve took on a post as the Senior Instructor at the then newly formed Operational Training and Advisory Group. The courses he designed were delivered to thousands of soldiers and civilians of all ranks and positions worldwide. During his military career, he also deployed on several defence diplomacy missions representing the FCO. He decided to leave the British Army after reaching the rank of Class One Warrant Officer.
Realising that the skillset and personal discipline gained during his time in the military may have value outside, Steve decided to explore options within the private security sector. One day after retiring from the Army, he deployed on PSC operations in Iraq and then Afghanistan for another decade. During this time, he gained much experience as the Director of Training and Standards, Project Manager, Country Operations Director and picked up a commercial mindset as Country Director in Afghanistan. His skills and knowledge were well tapped when he was often hired by JFTC as an advisor during training for NATO officers prior to their deployment to Afghanistan.
Steve has been living in Asia, and successfully running his own companies there for 9 years. He says, “Understanding the diverse cultures and traditions of your AOR, is like having extra team members”.
As a fit, well rounded security specialist, Steve is excited about his new role with Chartsec, and is optimistic for the success of this forward thinking and diverse company.
